Are You a Transactional Person?

Are you a transactional person?

I often hear clients say:

"I'm completely different at work than I am at home."

Are you?

I think transactional leadership is a symptom of something deeper: a transactional way of relating to people.

Do you only reach out when you need something?

Do you evaluate people based on what they can offer you?

Do you invest in people only when there's a likely return?

If so, don't be surprised when that same pattern shows up in your leadership.

Leadership isn't something we turn on at work and off at home. It's an expression of who we are.

Transformational leaders value people for who they are, not just for what they can do for them.

A question:

Who in your life do you invest in when there is no obvious return?

Your answer may reveal more about your leadership than any assessment ever could.

PS: There are two remaining spots for the Coaches Retreat in France (Sept 29–Oct 4). This is a small group experience for experienced coaches who are ready to create what’s next in their coaching practice and step into a new level of confidence and fulfillment in their work.

PPS: I also have one or two openings for a 2.5-day private 1:1 leadership intensive for senior leaders ready to seriously disrupt how they lead. This is a fully customized in-person experience designed around your current leadership edge and what’s getting in the way. Past work has included immersive environments, high-stakes experiential work, and deep reflective processes that surface blind spots and shift how leaders show up under pressure. If this piques your interest, reach out!
